You're right about Darby looking like Yorick. That's exactly what I thought when I saw the last pictures you posted of him. Darby just has more white on his tail, it's actually striped. And he has that really cute white spot on his hind end. I'm so happy with him.

Hi Mary Anne,

I doubt your dog is a full kooikerhondje, since there are so few of them around and they are pretty jealously guarded and protected. I'd love to see pictures of her! Size, proportion, and coat (black earrings) are important identifying features of a kooiker. There are many dog mixes that may have similar characteristics--Brittanys, shelties, collies, Cavalier King Charles--but won't be quite the same. Sounds like she was a lucky find, whatever her lineage! And she was certainly lucky to find herself in your care. Thanks for writing,
Rose

I have a 14 yr old female I adopted when she was 2yrs old. She was pulled as a puppy with 14 other dogs from a negelect situation out of West Virginia. I always considered her a border collie/Brittney mix until I discovered this breed. Is their an easy wat to determine if she truely is a Kooikerhondje? She seems to fit the description. I just love her all around laid back attitude, except when playing or practicing agility. She ADORES being a therapy dog, and is especially good with small children. When her time comes, I would love to be able to have another good "all around dog".

Thanks

Hi Susanne,
Thanks for your comments. Right now we have only 2 breeding dogs. Rosy is only eight months old, and will have her tests for eyes and joints before she is bred. Yorick is two years old, and we are waiting his x-ray results, and I will post them to the web site when they arrive. His eye exams, DNA and Von Willebrands tests are on the web site on his pedigree table: http://rosewoodkooikers.com/rosewood-breeding-dogs/yorick-cat-intro/
Our breeding dogs who have retired (Elsie and Bianca) have all been x-rayed and had their eyes examined. Since they are no longer being bred, I don't think that info is on the web site any more.
I will continue to pass along the health test results to the Dutch Register as they become available.
Thanks for your questions,
Rose

I've seen pictures of Diesel in the Dutch stud book and on the web site. He's gorgeous! Do you bring him with you when you travel? Please stop by Virginia next time you are in the States!
Thank you for your compliments about the web site. = )
